The Apple iPad mini, thought now to be an abandoned product, may be getting its long-awaited revival soon.
Last week, at almost exactly the same time, two Twitter users (@Jin_Store & @laobaiTD) posted images claiming to confirm the existence of a fifth generation iPad mini. Until now, there was no solid evidence that a new iPad mini was on the horizon, but renowned Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo did predict that the product could be coming back in October.
We don’t have any official product images yet, but according to one of the tweets, the iPad mini 5 could ship with the Apple A9 processor (the current iPad mini 4 has the A8 processor). As the A9 processor originally launched in 2015 with the iPhone 6s, it would be strange for Apple to include it on a new product launching in 2018/2019. Even Apple’s $329 iPad includes the A10 processor inside.
We don’t know much else about the new iPad mini yet, but stay tuned for more info in the future.
